WHat is Ascension?
Pandemics, awareness, resistance, and more have affected the world and kept everyone preoccupied with matters bigger than fashion. Soon people will start to rise up from the anxiety and stress into a more freeing environment.
THE PROCEss
We started off our forecast by creating a color mood board. We found that bright pastels and dark tones match perfectly with our theme. After creating our overarching color board, we made a warm toned board and a cool toned board.
Our warm-toned color board draws from bright pastel yellows to deep reds. Our ascension theme can be seen through the references to religion, angels, birds, fruit, and art. Ascension means rising above giving way to a light, airy feeling.
The cool-toned color board pulls from the juxtaposition of rising above. "As above, so below," is an age-old saying that we referenced through the creation of our different toned color boards. There are images of skulls, darkness, growth, and water in this board to represent our cool pastel colors.
Fabrics
After discovering our color scheme, we found different fabrics for Ascension. We focused on light, breezy, and natural fabrics as these emulate the idea of rising above.
Look Book
We tied everything together by conducting research into street style and runway looks that display our theme. We found 30 different full body looks by going through social media, brand websites, and more.
COnclusion
To finish off our look book, we found another 15 different accessories to showcase Ascension.
This forecasting project taught me so much about fashion and how important it is to stay to date on everything. I was also able to hone in on my photoshop skills by putting this presentation together. I never realized that fashion can be predicted and it takes a copious amount of time and energy.
